10 Smart Hacks to Control Your Frizzy Hair

Damaged and dry hair allows more moisture to pass through the hair cuticle, causing the hair strands to swell and become frizzy. But even the most manageable hair, and the most luscious curls, can turn into a bushy and frizzy mess in places with a moist, humid climate. Here a few tricks to keep the unwanted frizz at bay.
1. Keep the heat low on your styling tools
If you cannot avoid the styling tools completely, at least ensure you keep the heat to a minimum - bring the temperature down to around 365 degrees Fahrenheit for minimal frizz.

2. Avoid frequently washing your hair
Washing too frequently strips hair of all the natural oils, making it dry and frizz-prone. So, even if you have to wash your hair, condition it well afterwards.

3. Deep-condition your hair

A deep conditioner seals the hair cuticle and prevents humidity from getting into the hair.

4. Use sulfate-free shampoos
Sulfates dry the hair strands, causing it to soak up all the humidity in the air.

5. Make sure your hair products don’t contain alcohol
: Alcohol swells the hair cuticle, resulting in frizzy hair

6. Avoid rubbing your hair with towel
Rubbing your hair dry with a towel causes unnecessary friction that’s damaging to your hair. Instead, gently squeeze the water out with your hands and let your hair air dry.

7. For curly hair, try the plopping trick

Plopping helps to dry curly hair into tight, luscious curls while it’s compacted in a T-shirt.

8. Resist the urge to touch your hair
Every time you touch your hair, you’re breaking up its natural pattern, which can cause frizz. You are also transferring all the dirt and salts on your hands, to your hair.

9. Just before you shower, brush out your hair with a boar bristle brush
Boar bristle brushes actually help distribute your hair’s oils for smooth, silky hair. Doing so before showering helps lift the oils away from your scalp so you can get an even deeper clean and let the oils nourish your hair strands in the process.

10. Use a wide-tooth comb on wet hair
Brushing wet hair is just asking for crazy amounts of damage, so run a wide-tooth comb through it after (or while) you shower.
