Hyderabad-A Blend of Oriental Culture and Civilization



Also known as the city of pearls and diamonds, the city of Hyderabad is well known for its historical testimony and pride of antiquity. It is one of the chief cities of India and is the capital of the state of Andhra Pradesh and de jure capital of Telangana state. The city is an epicenter of trade, commerce, education, business, entertainment and other major sectors.

A Peek into the History
 
The history of Hyderabad is adorned with rich rule of the Nizams. The dynasty as a whole was established 1591 by Muhamad Quli Qutub Shah and remained under him until the Mughals captured it. Asif Jah I declared his sovereignty and named it the “Nizam Dynasty”. The dynasty prevailed until the British Raj and was bought under the Indian union in 1948 under the State reorganization committee.

Famous Monuments
 
Apart from some well-known monuments like Charminar, Mecca Masjid, Qutub Shahi Tomb, Golconda fort the city is also home to many not very known monuments like:

1.Taramati Baradari which is a double storeyed square building located a mile from Golconda Fort.

2.Chowmahalla Palace is a series of magnificent palaces built by Nizams, each denoting something.

3.Asman Garh Palace is also a beautiful palace located on a hillock and served as a hunting preserve for the Nizams.

4.Spanish Mosque or Masjid Iqbal Ud Daula was built by Paigah Nawab after his visit to Spain, the architecture of this mosque is Spanish in nature.

5.Rachakonda is located 30 km away from the city and is an old ruined fort with all historic facts of Kakatiya rule; it’s also a hub for trekking.

Culture, food and life
 
The Nizam rule enriched the culture of the city. It is a co-existence of both Muslims and Hindus yet Muslim culture is predominant. The food is a beautiful amalgamation of Arabic, Turkish and Mughlai; the most famous dishes are Hyderabadi Biryani and Hyderabadi Haleem.

The life in the city is not very expensive, it is cosmopolitan and people mostly speak Urdu or Telugu. Most moderate and economical city for all the dwellers!
