Herbs That You Should Include in Your Everyday Diet

Herbs not only add to the flavour of the food you cook but also have a lot of properties that could be a natural remedy for one or more of your health problems. So, we’ve made a list of important herbs that you should include in your everyday diet to help overcome your health problems or to prevent any potential health problems.


1. Basil leaves
The leaves of the basil plant can be had fresh or be used in the dried form. It’s a good thing to chew on fresh leaves early in the morning on an empty stomach to help deal with digestion problems. The herb has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties and is known to keep cancer at bay. So, if you have cancer or a family history of cancer, this is your go-to herb.

2. Oregano
This is a commonly used herb that we sprinkle on our salads and pizzas, but did you know of its magical properties? Oregano is known to be a cure for respiratory tract and gastrointestinal disorders because of the high amounts of omega-3 fatty acids, manganese, iron and Vitamin K. It has been used as a traditional cure for cough, common cold and body pain.

3. Parsley
This herb has anti-cancer properties due to the high amounts of flavonoids it contains, and the essential oils present in the herb help boost your immune system and keep your heart healthy. You can garnish your food with fresh leaves of parsley or sprinkle the dried and powdered leaves to your salads and soups.

Rosemary is a magical herb with a great number of health benefits. It relieves body pain due to stress, boosts immunity and blood circulation in the body, and improves digestion and here’s the most important feature, it prevents any neurological disorders. Rosemary extract can be used to make tea.

5. Thyme
Thyme contains thymol, a strong antioxidant, that improves the immune system and detoxifies the body. Thyme is also known for its anti-bacterial, antifungal and neurological benefits. You can brew thyme leaves with tea.

6. Mint
It’s a favorite among people because of its rich aroma and is commonly added to smoothies, juices and tea. Mint cures digestive problems and helps maintain oral health. Your mother must have made you a hot cup of mint tea when you had headache due to migraine. Yes, it’s a cure for headaches. Mint is rich in Vitamin C, dietary fibre and iron. It is known to make skin radiant and hair healthy.

9. Garlic
Garlic is a strong antimicrobial agent that can help overcome colds, treat sinus congestion and helps prevent traveller’s diarrhoea. And it helps bring down soaring blood pressure levels. You can swallow 1 or 2 pods of garlic before going to bed

10. Sage
This herb is a blessing to all women suffering from irregular periods, heavy bleeding during periods, and from menopausal symptoms such as hot flushes. Of course, you need to use it for a long time to reap its benefits.
