10 Surprising Home Remedies for Acid Reflux

1. Apple Cider Vinegar
AppleCider Vinegar is a great aid for digestion. Just mix 1 to 2 teaspoons of the vinegar in warm water, and have it half an hour before a meal. You have to do this at least for a few months to get rid of the acid reflux problem.

2. Baking Soda
Baking soda provides instant relief to heartburn, one of the symptoms of acid reflux, but it should not be used by people with high blood pressure because it has sodium in it. So, to use baking soda for relief from heartburn, mix one teaspoon of baking soda in water and gulp it down quickly for instant relief.

3. Aloe Vera Juice
Simply drink a quarter glass of aloe vera juice about 20 minutes before having a meal to avoid acid reflux symptoms.

4. Chewing Gum
Ok! So this is the easiest way to avoid acid reflux. All you have to do is load your kitchen cabinet with lots of sugar-free chewing gum, and chew gum for thirty minutes after every meal. This will prevent acid reflux and give you the added benefit of fresh breath. However, be careful not to use mint-flavoured gum because this can aggravate acid reflux symptoms.

5. Yellow Mustard
Yellow mustard is known to neutralize stomach acid. So when you experience acid reflux, just swallow a teaspoon of yellow mustard with a glass of water.

6. Licorice Root
Licorice root is a sure cure for acid reflux as it has stomach-healing properties. So, what you do is boil half a teaspoon of licorice root powder in a bowl of water, and strain and drink the solution 15-20 minutes before meals. You have to have the solution two to three times a day for at least one week to get rid of acid reflux symptoms.

7. Fennel
Fennel is known to take care of a host of digestion problems, including acid reflux. It suppresses stomach cramps. All you have to do is just chew half a teaspoon of fennel after a meal.

8. Slippery Elm
Slippery elm has soothing, anti-inflammatory effects on the lining of the stomach. To relieve symptoms of acid reflux, mix two tablespoons of powdered slippery elm bark in two cups of hot water. Let it steep for about five minutes. Drink it three times a day until you see improvement.

9. Marshmallow
Marshmallow has the same properties as slippery elm. You add two tablespoons of dried marshmallow root to 4 cups of water, and let it sit overnight. The next morning, you have to strain out the herb and drink the water a few times a day to help relieve acid reflux.

10. Cumin
Cumin seeds stimulate digestion and reduce acidity and gas. To reduce acid reflux, add one teaspoon of cumin seeds to a bowl of water and boil it. Let it steep for five minutes and then strain it. Drink the cumin tea early in the morning and after meals. Follow this routine for a few days until you notice an improvement.
