A Suit that Suit’s you – Men’s Formal Wear

Suits – The ultimate in men’s formal attire, is essentially a set of garments consisting of jacket and trousers made from the same fabric. It would not be an exaggeration if we said, the character and style is defined by the suit one wears. It is the accepted attire in the business circles too. In addition to choosing the fabric, it is utmost important to check on the style of the suit, brand (in case of ready-wear suits) and price too, while shopping for suits.

Some important rules to consider while buying the suits:

  • Suits need to be tailor made to the contours of the body.
  • Get your measurements right.
  • Your tie-bar should not be wider than your tie.
  • Quality of good fabric is when you squeeze the fabric, it results in minimal wrinkles.
While buying a suit it is very important to know the various types of Men’s suits available:
  1. Single Breasted: It has only one set of buttons and button holes, which do not overlap. It has a ‘V’ shaped neck and the back is of silk. Also called, the British style suit, it generally gives a casual look.
  2. Double Breasted:  Jackets typically have six buttons on the front, and one button that is located on the inside, which helps close the jacket. It is also known as the Italian style suit and generally worn by tall men.
  3. Lounge Suits: With its comfortable fit, it is meant for day work. It can be worn with or without a tie. Light to medium colors are preferred. Single breasted is preferred with two buttons. 
  4. Dinner Suits: It is a basic black tie suit and usually in dark colors and traditional fit.
  5. Business Suits: Very formal cut and stylish in sober colors and sharp fits. They are more conservative and formal and could be either double or single breasted. 
  6. Wedding Suits: As the name suggests they are for ceremonial occasions. Fabrics are velveteen, jacquard and other sheen or a luxury fabric meant for luxury wear. The trend is currently of single to two buttons with slim fit. 
  7. Tuxedos: Ultra formal and the ultimate in the suit line, it can be stylized for the ceremonial wear.
