Travel Therapy – Treat oneself the ‘Self-Inspired’ way.

Travel Therapy – Enough to raise those ‘arched – eyebrows’ with a questioning stare. Well, in the contemporary sense, travel could be as much a therapy as you could imagine others such as retail or aromatic therapies to be. In fact, travel therapy is fast catching up as a progressive way to address innate needs & fears of humans.

Travel could be for sheer adventure, or to holy places for a spiritual rejuvenation, or perhaps to destinations for enjoyment with near and dears. Reasons may be many, but it all boils down to the fact that we are trying to fulfill some need or fear within us.

Travel therapy is no doctor or expert prescribed; rather, it could be better reasoned as ‘self – inspired’. The intrinsic urge in oneself to cling on to some fragile hope during an emotional downturn, transition or sometimes a strong need for change, inspires us to explore alternate (at times weird) therapies to find beneficial solutions to them.

In the recent past, travel therapy has led to the proliferation of the tourism industry. Spiritual healing/ wellness tourism, alternate lifestyle/ yoga tourism, aero/ aqua/ land tourism, voluntary tourism – all stem from the very basic urge to treat and benefit oneself.

So what’s your pick this season – adventure, aqua or spiritual? Travel and treat yourself to a therapeutic experience and feel rejuvenated.

Malana is an ancient Indian village in the state of Himachal Pradesh. This solitary village in the Malana Nala, a side valley of the Parvati Valley to the north-east of Kullu Valley, is isolated from the rest of the world. The majestic peaks of Chandrakhani and Deotibba shadow the village. It is situated on a remote plateau by the side of the torrential Malana river, at a height of 3,029 metres (9,938 ft) above sea level. Unaffected by modern civilization, Malana has its own lifestyle and social structure. People are strict in following their customs. Malana has been the subject of various documentaries, including Malana: Globalization of a Himalayan Village and Malana, A Lost Identity.
