1. Put down rugs in areas of wear and tear on the flooring.

3. If your furniture has a period look, consider placing it as a focal point in your living.

4. Layers -- a pillow atop a pillow, chair pads on rush seats, matchstick blinds with cotton drapes -- cook up warmth.

5. Consider using silk or brocade for drapes to give your home a regal look.

6. Liven up the living room with some fresh indoor plants and colourful flowers.

7. Consider changing the pillow covers and bring in some bright and vibrant colours to add to a festive décor.

8. You could place terracotta art works as well to your décor.
