10 Natural Shampoo Recipes to Make at Home

Using homemade products over shop-brought ones is always a healthier alternative. Try out these simple recipes to make natural shampoo at home.

1.Natural Coconut Milk Shampoo

Combine 1/4th cup of homemade coconut milk, 1/4th cup of liquid castile soap with 20 drops od essential oil of your choice and mix well in bottle or jar. If you use a foaming dispenser, add 1.4th cup of distilled water to the mix and for up to a month.

2.Moisturizing PH Balanced Shampoo

Combine 1 can of full fat coconut milk with 2tbsp. raw honey, 1 tsp Jojoba oil, 1 tsp castor oil, 2 tbsp. apple cider vinegar, and 1 tsp of any essential oil and whisk until smooth. Massage on your scalp and leave on for a few minutes before rinsing.

3.Honey & Tea Tree Oil Shampoo

Combine 1 tbsp. raw honey with 2 tbsp. apple cider vinegar. Add 4 ounces of aloe vera and 1 tbsp. coconut oil and blend and heat the mix if it is not melted. In a mixing bowl, add 1 tsp castile soap and 3 tbsp. distilled water and blend before adding 10 drops of rosemary and 10 drops of tea tree essential oils. Shake well before each use on wet hair.

4.Baking Soda Shampoo

Mix 2 cups of warm water with 1 tbsp. of baking soda and 1 tbsp. of apple cider vinegar and use this to wash your hair 1-2 times a month to remove product build-ups and clean the scalp.

5.Lavender Rosemary Shampoo
Take 2 tsp of melted virgin coconut oil and mix it with ½ cup of lavender castile soap, 1 ½ cups of distilled water, 3 drops of lavender and rosemary essential oils each and shake well before storing in a jar.

6.Organic Lemon Coconut Shampoo
Pour 1 cup of organic base into a bowl and 1 tbsp. of coconut oil and stir it in before adding 20 drops of lemon essential oil. This is a perfect recipe for a quick homemade shampoo that nourishes your hair and scalp while leaving it smelling fresh and citrusy.

7.Aloe Vera Shampoo
Mix 1/4th cup of aloe vera gel with 1/4th cup of castile soap, ½ tsp of Vitamin E oil and 3 drops of any essential oil for fragrance and blend well to get a smooth paste and use for quick hair growth.

8.Coffee Shampoo
This shampoo is good for adding shine to your hair and make it soft. Add ½ tsp of organic coffee to 4 tbsp. of natural shampoo or castile soap and apply on wet hair and leave on before rinsing. This helps stimulate hair follicles, gets rid of build-ups, and acts as a hair-dye.

9.Vinegar Shampoo
Mix 1 tbsp. of apple cider vinegar with 2 cups of hot water, ½ tbsp. of baking soda and 5 drops of tea tree essential oil and use it for oily hair or if you have dandruff problem.

10.Olive Oil Shampoo

Add 1 cup of mild natural shampoo or castile soap and 1 tbsp. of olive oil for natural hair (1/2 tbsp. for oily hair, 2 tbsp. for very dry hair) and shake gently to mix. This shampoo helps nourish your hair and strengthens it and helps repair heat damage.
