Read a good book and Review it
Emma by Jane Austen
One of the
most famous novels of Jane Austen which she wrote when she was at the
peak of her success was Emma. She wrote about the heroine that "I
am going to take a heroine whom no one but myself will much like."
In this novel, she shows the wealthy class of England and their ways
of life. Predominantly she focuses on the life of Emma Woodhouse, the
protagonist of the novel, who lives a luxurious life with her Dad.
The story revolves around her life and how her acts of both stupidity
and empathy deliver a right message to the reader.
The novel
very clearly shows that Emma, thinks very high of herself, thinks she
is brilliant, and the world revolves around her. She also
overestimates her matchmaking skills and tries to match up most of
her friends and relatives. She thinks that the marriage of her
Governess was because of her. The author introduces many characters
both contradictory and vice versa to the protagonist. She introduces
Harriet Smith, on whom Emma plays all her experiments of match making
but she fails miserably! She is well acquainted with Mr. Knightley
and doesn’t agree the fact that he is the right one for her; she
also pairs him.
The
character of the protagonist is a message for the reader. Her
non-acceptance of dangers in matchmaking and her over-imaginative
indulgence shows how to lead a life well and with dignity.
All in all,
it is indeed a masterpiece of Jane Austen! It has all the elements in
it like Humor, Inspiration, Dignity, Romance and much more. It is
indeed a must read! #BookReview
