Healthy Nutrition for kids

Life today is measured in terms of success and societal status. Everyone’s in a race yearning for a great career. We all know ‘Health is Wealth’ but, today health has become money and success. The term ‘health’ is continuously being bombarded with other aspects of life.

Today, we fancy on other cuisines than our own. We love to eat that’s easy and tasty. The taste buds crave for variety than wholesome food. The young parents inorder to balance their busy schedules prefer canned, packed or processed foods which lacks proper nutrition.

The children on top of that are so obsessed with food that they binge on chips, beverages, pizzas, burgers, dough nuts etc.that have high fat content, salt and sugar making them an early target for diseases like obesity, diabetes and high cholesterol.

The children today are tomorrow’s citizens. A healthy upbringing is as important as giving them proper education. Giving them the right food is what keeps them active and energetic. The children and the teens love food as much as they love sports or movies.

It’s for the parents to take charge in making the food as interesting as possible.Raisins and apricots are a good substitute for sugar. Limiting the salt and oil that’s right enough for any dish could lower the levels of cholesterol and obesity. Including lots of fruits and vegetables or a combination of them would add onto a variety.Alternating it with meat, chicken and fish with spices is an enjoyable meal. Trying a new dish frequently would excite their taste buds than having similar dishes on daily basis. A clear understanding of what is good for the kids and what makes the kids savour the dish will be a solution for making a healthy recipe.

There isn’t much fun sitting in front of the computers and playing games. We must encourage the kids to go out and play in the sun for sun’s rays are a rich source of Vitamin D. It helps them to socialise and de stress their mind. The body should learn to get used to pulsations and palpitations for a good functioning of the heart. Sending them on treks and adventure sports or getting them trained on a particular sport of their choice will make their lives more exciting.

Awareness on health andnutrition must be a part of school curriculum as well. The schools too must give importance to co-curricular activities that would expose them on various things resulting in discovering their interests and developing confidence amounting to good mental health.

A happy living is achieved when we have a stable health. For all the choices we have made in our lives the children remain the integral part. Their health is of at most importance. We being their immediate resource for any sort of knowledge should constantly guide them about the things that are good and essential for their well-being.
