Sparkle and Brighten your Home: Easy Cleaning Tips for Diwali House Cleaning

It’s that time of the year when we would start cleaning our homes to ready it for Diwali. Call it ‘the Diwali house cleaning ritual’; you would invariably start doing it days in advance.’ Like it or not, you would definitely hate to see a drab looking home during the festival; however, the cleaning spree is easy said than done.

Gone are the days, when we had ample time and helping hands to assist us during those rigorous cleaning activities. With more and more nuclear families coming into existence, the lady of the house is left with just one source for her help – the house maid. Despite the personnel challenges and paucity of time, one could still achieve best results by following a few easy tips on cleaning which we would love to call as ‘Smart and Swift Sprucing.’

Take a look at a few simple tips:

Start with wardrobes & closets: They need to be your foremost target. Throw away all those old, torn and dull looking clothes. Never get attached to your clothes and store them which simply add up to the clutter.

Ceiling to Floor Approach: It is always best advised to start the cleaning from the ceiling and gradually move down towards the floor. Always ensure you clean the fans and lights with dry cloth to avoid electric s shocks.

Windows & grills: Next in-line of cleaning would be the windows and grills. Use a soapy solution for the first round of cleaning, followed by dry cloth to make the window panes shine.

Dust the furniture & artefacts: Dust and wipe all the furniture, artefacts, decorative items, and all-and-sundry that make up your home.

Curtains, Cushion & sofa covers: Remove all the curtains, cushion and sofa covers to replace them later with fresh and vibrant ones for the festival.

Floor & carpet: The last one in the list would be to clean floor and carpet. The best way to clean them would be to use a vacuum cleaner.

Kitchen: Never clean the kitchen while you are cleaning the other spaces in your home. Kitchen cleaning needs to be treated exclusively as it would take as much as time that you may have.

These steps would ensure a thorough cleaning of your home. Adorn your home with vibrant curtains, cushion & sofa covers and add a dash of freshness with indoor plants and fresh flowers. Place terracotta diyas and in niches & corners, and welcome this diwali with a beautiful rangoli, flowers and diyas at your front door.
