Caffeine- How Good or Bad it is?

Caffeine is a psychoactive drug found in plants in many parts of the world. It is mainly found in Coffee plant hence named as Caffeine. Unlike the other drugs it is legalized and is found in several beverages like coffee, energy drinks and others.

Caffeine is included in beverages as it increases performance, endurance, and general body co-ordination and decreases fatigue, sleep, drowsiness.

It is often consumed by athletes to enhance their performance and sprint.

It has negative effects on the body like, anxiety, depression, increased heart rate, tremors, frequent urination, vomiting, difficulty in sleep and many more.

It can also lead to osteoporosis which is lack of calcium absorption in the body. When consumed by pregnant women it can lead to problems in child’s health. USA has imposed guidelines for consumption of caffeine.

Like alcohol, caffeine flows in our blood stream and can react with drugs, if consumed. Hence, the intake has to be reduced but in a gradual manner.
